Rhythm Pharmaceuticals (RYTM) reported positive topline results from the Phase 3 TRANSCEND trial evaluating setmelanotide, a melanocortin-4 receptor agonist, for the treatment of acquired hypothalamic obesity. The trial met primary endpoint with a statistically significant and highly clinically meaningful reduction in body mass index with setmelanotide in both adult and pediatric patients versus placebo. No new safety signals were observed, in line with setmelanotides well-established and well-understood safety profile.
Rhythm expects presenting full data from the TRANSCEND study at an upcoming medical meeting.
