Bethel, Connecticut-based Caraluzzi's Markets is recalling 8oz Caraluzzi's Italian Style Seafood Burgers as it contains undeclared egg, a known allergen, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The impacted product comes in 8oz clear packaging with a blue overwrap label, expiration date of 01/16/2026, and UPC of 0-95864-80008-8.
The Italian Style Seafood Burger was sold in-store at Caraluzzi's Markets locations in Bethel, Wilton, Newtown and Danbury Connecticut from February 18 to April 2.
The recall was initiated after an investigation following a consumer complaint revealed that the product containing egg was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg. The mislabeled product has been removed from sale.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg may get serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. So far, the company has received one report of allergic reaction related to the recalled product.
Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
In similar recalls, San Antonio, Texas-based C.H. Guenther & Son LLC in mid-March recalled 365 Whole Foods Market's Small Bites Macaroni & Cheese; and Maspeth, New York-based HAR Maspeth Corp. called back Jinga Glass Noodles with Vegetables citing the possible presence of undeclared eggs.
Louisville, Kentucky-based Custom Food Solutions in January called back around 105,164 pounds of ready-to-eat or RTE frozen drunken chicken product sold in Indiana, citing misbranding and undeclared egg and sesame.
