The Simply Good Foods Company (SMPL) rose 11.81 percent to $37.11, gaining $3.92 on strong second quarter results during Wednesday's trading. The company reported net sales of $359.7 million, up from $312.2 million a year ago.
Shares opened at $35.45 and have traded between $34.33 and $37.26 so far today on the Nasdaq. The stock previously closed at $33.19. Trading volume reached 1.35 million shares, surpassing the daily average of 974,000. SMPL is now trading closer to the upper end of its 52-week range of $31.25 to $40.53.
Net income also increased to $36.7 million from $33.1 million year over year.
