Synectics plc (SNX.L), a provider of security and surveillance solutions, Monday said that Ocular Integration, the company's systems integration business, has received contract worth 1.1 million pounds from the UK's largest bus and coach operator, Stagecoach.
Under the contract, Stagecoach will launch Okular's new on-board hub solution on a pilot basis.
The On-Board Hub, developed in partnership with Navaho Technologies Limited, is designed to run multiple applications including automatic vehicle location, CCTV feeds, safety sensors and real-time passenger information in vehicles to improve both operator and passenger experience.
Upon successfully completing the pilot in a year, Okular's new on-vehicle technology is expected to be deployed more widely.
"The Contract not only recognises Ocular's long-standing experience in the transport sector but also demonstrates Ocular's expertise in understanding and responding to customers' individual needs by developing an on-vehicle surveillance solution that responds to their unique requirements," said Amanda Larnder, Synectics' Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
