Amcor (AMCR), a global leader in sustainable packaging, has further reduced material use in its flexible tubes for skincare brand Bulldog by decreasing tube sleeve wall thickness by 16.67 percent.
This improvement affects Bulldog's 100ml and 150ml, 50mm diameter tubes, resulting in an estimated annual plastic savings of 8.5 metric tonnes.
The enhancement was achieved through extensive collaboration between Amcor and Bulldog, ensuring that the redesigned tubes maintained their performance, including squeezability, print quality, and leak resistance. The new design remains compatible with existing caps and shoulders, avoiding disruptions to the filling process.
Amcor also boosted the proportion of post-consumer recycled (PCR) content in the tubes to over 62 percent. Since 2017, Bulldog has been using virgin plastic derived from certified sugarcane, a biopolymer by-product of food production that lowers fossil fuel dependency.
Amcor's Sales Director Joe Horton stated that the update reflects both companies' shared vision for a circular economy focused on sustainable consumption and recycling. Bulldog's Brand Director James Barnes highlighted that the refreshed packaging enhances sustainability without compromising shelf appeal.
AMCR is currently trading at $9.27 or 1.09% higher on the NYSE.
