AO World FY25 Profit Down, But Revenue Rises; Backs Outlook

AO World Plc (AO.L) on Wednesday posted lower profit in fiscal 2025, impacted by higher administrative expenses. Revenue, however, climbed 7 percent from last year.

The British electrical retailer posted pre-tax profit of 20.6 million pounds in fiscal 2025, a 40 percent drop from last year's 34.3 million pounds. However, on adjusted basis, pre-tax profit rose to 43.5 million pounds from 34.3 million pounds in the previous year.

Profit for the year fell to 10.5 million pounds or 1.76 pence per share from 24.7 million pounds or 4.14 pence per share in fiscal 2024. However, adjusted earnings per basic share were 5.70 pence, an increase from 4.29 pence in fiscal 2024.

Annual revenues climbed to 1.14 billion from 1.04 billion recorded a year ago.

During the year, total administrative expenses rose to 255.0 million pounds from 207.7 million pounds last year.

On a like-for-like basis, adjusted pre-tax profit were 45 million pounds, compared to 34 million pounds last year. LFL Group revenue rose 7 percent to 1.11 billion pounds from 1.04 billion pounds in the prior year.

Looking ahead, the company reaffirmed its outlook of achieving revenue growth along with Group adjusted pre-tax profit of between 40 million pounds and 50 million pounds. In the medium term, the company reiterated its outlook of delivering a pre-tax profit margin of more than 5 percent.
