Huhtamäki Oyj (LS8.F), a food packaging company, Thursday reported profit before taxes of 31 million euros for the second quarter, lower than 88.5 million euros in the same quarter a year ago, primarily due to drop in sales.
Earnings before interest and taxes or EBIT declined to 46.2 million euros from 104.6 million euros in the prior year.
Adjusted EBIT was down 2% year-over-year at 103.1 million euros.
Net profit decreased to 21.1 million euros or 0.20 euros per share from 65 million euros or 0.62 euros per share last year.
On an adjusted basis, earnings remained flat at 65.6 million euros or 0.63 euros per share.
Sales for the quarter were 1.008 billion, 3% down from 1.038 billion in the previous year.
