Tokyo Electron Device Q1 Profit, Sales Down

Tokyo Electron Device Limited Tuesday reported net income of 1.217 billion yen or 41.23 yen per share for the first quarter, lower than 2.494 billion yen or 83.09 yen per share in the same quarter a year ago.

Operating income declined 65.8% to 1.455 billion yen from 4.252 billion last year.

Net sales for the quarter fell 20.3% to 45.136 billion yen from 56.607 billion yen in the previous year.

For the full year, the company expects sales to decline 7.6% to 200 billion. Net income is expected to decrease 21.1% to 7 billion with EPS of 237.50.

For the six months ended September 30, Tokyo Electron Device sees net sales of 91.4 billion yen, down 18.2% year-on-year and net income of 2.3 billion yen, 46.6% lower than the previous year. EPS is expected at 77.86 yen.
