Allstate Stock Rises 5% After Reporting August Catastrophe Losses Of $213 Mln

The Allstate Corporation (ALL) gained 4.85 percent to $206.82 on Thursday, up $9.57, after the company reported estimated catastrophe losses of $213 million in August, or $168 million after-tax. Losses stemmed from 10 events, with about 70 percent tied to three major wind and hail events.

The stock opened at $199.00 and moved between $198.18 and $207.02, compared with a previous close of $197.25 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Trading volume reached 846,122 shares, below the average of 1.54 million. Allstate trades within a 52-week range of $176.00 to $214.76.
