Naspers Ltd. (NPSN.L,NPN.JO) Monday said that its profit rose in the first half of the year, helped by good performances in South America, Europe and India. The company's revenue climbed 20 percent from a year ago.
On the Johannesburg Exchange, NPN.JO is trading up 2.84 percent on Monday at 119,358.00 ZAc.
The South Africa-based consumer internet company posted first-half profit attributable to equity holders of the group of $2.39 billion or 1.45 cents per share, higher than $1.91 billion or 1.06 cents per share in the same period last year.
During the six-month period, the company's pre-tax profit surged to $5.67 billion from $4.71 billion in the corresponding period a year ago.
According to Naspers, revenue rose to $4.12 billion in the first six months of the year from $3.44 billion in the prior-year period. The company's operating profit rose to $178 million from $107 million in the same period last year.
