Laurent-Perrier S.A. (LPE.PA), a French champagne producer, Friday reported decreased profit for the first half compared to last year, even as revenues increased with higher sales volume.

Operating profit came down 5.7 percent to 36.6 million euros from 38.8 million euros in the prior year.
The firm's group revenue, however, increased 1.5 percent to 134 million euros from 132 million euros the earlier year.
Laurent-Perrier's champagne sales improved 3.5 percent to 133.3 million euros from 128.8 million euros in the prior year period.
During the first half, the Group achieved a 2.6 percent year-over-year increase in sales volumes, though the champagne market recorded a 1.5 percent decline in volumes shipped.
