China Gas H1 Profit Declines

China Gas Holdings Ltd. (0384.HK), a Chinese natural gas company, on Friday reported that its first-half net profit decreased from last year with weaker revenues.

China Gas' profit for the period attributable to owners of the company was HK$1.33 billion, 24.2 percent lower than HK$1.76 billion in the prior year.

For the six-month period, earnings per share were HK 24.73 cents, compared to HK 32.71 cents a year ago.

The company's revenue came down 1.8 percent to HK$34.48 billion from HK$35.11 billion a year ago.

Natural gas revenues increased to HK$20.38 billion from last year's HK$19.64 billion. Meanwhile, LPG sales revenue fell 12.3 percent year-over-year to HK$8.38 billion. LPG operating profit was up 125.6 percent year-over-year to HK$4.54 million

During the six-month period, the Group's LPG sales volume reached 1.928 million tons, representing a year-on year decrease of 4.5 percent.

Further, the Board declared an interim dividend of HK15.0 cents per share for the six months, same as last year. The interim dividend will be paid on or about February 6 to shareholders on the register on January 9.

On the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the shares closed Friday's trading 0.12 percent lower at HK$8.60.
