Hapag-Lloyd Aktiengesellschaft (HLAG.DE), Friday announced a contract with the Chinese shipyard CIMC Raffles for the construction of eight new container ships, with each having a capacity of 4,500 TEU.
With investment volume of over $500 million, the contract is expected to be delivered in 2028 and 2029.
The contract comes in line with the company's goals of being a driver of sustainability in container shipping and to the gradual decarbonization of its fleet.
Currently, Hapag-Lloyd's stock is trading at 124.60 euros on the XETRA.
