UK Factory Sector Growth At 15-Month High In December

The U.K. manufacturing ended the year 2025 on a positive note with the sector expanding at the fastest pace in 15 months on increased production and stronger demand, results of a survey by the S&P Global showed on Friday.

The seasonally adjusted S&P Global UK Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index climbed to 50.6 in December from 50.2 in November, its highest level for 15 months, the survey showed.

Major central banks continued to dominate the economic news flow this week too, led by the Federal Reserve, as they announced their latest policy decisions. The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
