V.F. Corp. (VFC) shares declined 9.02 percent, or $1.83 on Wednesday, to $18.45, even after the company reported higher third-quarter earnings compared with the same period last year.
The apparel maker posted net earnings of $300.85 million, or $0.76 per share, up from $167.78 million, or $0.43 per share, a year earlier. On an adjusted basis, earnings came in at $0.56 per share. Revenue edged higher to $2.875 billion from $2.833 billion in the prior-year period.
The stock opened at $18.03 versus a previous close of $20.28 and traded between $17.80 and $19.23 during the session on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares were last quoted with a bid of $18.33 and an ask of $18.34.
Trading volume totaled about 11.17 million shares, compared with an average volume of roughly 6.21 million.
V.F. Corp.'s shares have traded within a 52-week range of $9.41 to $29.02.
