Consumer prices in South Korea were up a seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent on month in January, Statistics Korea said on Tuesday - in line with expectations and up from 0.3 percent in December.
On a yearly basis, inflation climbed 2.0 percent - below expectations for 2.1 percent and easing from 2.3 percent in the previous month.
The index excluding food and energy increased 0.5 percent from the preceding month and rose 2.0 percent from the same month of the previous year. In December, prices were up 0.2 percent on month and 2.0 percent on year.
