United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC), Wednesday announced that the Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Co-President Jason Wang as the new Chief Executive Officer.
Meanwhile, the Board selected Executive Vice President Ming Hsu as the President and Chief Operating Officer of UMC.
Also, Co-President SC Chien has been elected to serve as Chairman of Unimicron Technology, an invested company of the UMC group.
Speaking about the new leadership changes, Stan Hung, Chairman of UMC, said, "The leadership changes announced today will enable UMC to further strengthen execution and raise decision-making efficiency, while ensuring continuity of our strategic direction."
In the pre-market hours, UMC is moving down 3.85 percent, to $10.50 on the New York Stock Exchange.
