Taiwan Shares Expected To Open In The Red

The Taiwan stock market has moved lower in back-to-back sessions, sinking almost 300 points or 0.9 percent along the way. The Taiwan Stock Exchange now sits just beneath the 33,550-point plateau and it may take further damage on Monday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is weak on soaring crude oil prices and pessimism over the outlook for interest rates. The European and U.S. markets were down and the Asian bourses are expected to open in similar fashion.

Apart from the confirmation of Kevin Warsh as the next Fed chair, the main news on the economics front this week included key price data from the U.S. and the first quarter economic growth figures from major economies. Both consumer prices and producer costs have started to reflect the effect of supply shocks due to the Middle East conflict. In Europe, GDP data was in focus, while inflation data from China dominated the news flow in Asia.
