After languishing in negative territory till well past noon, European stocks staged a fairly good recovery in the final hour to end on a mixed note on Thursday. Investors largely kept their focus on corporate earnings updates.
Worries about Middle East tensions weighed, rendering the mood a bit bearish for much of the day's session.
The pan European Stoxx 600 edged up 0.05%. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 and Germany's DAX ended lower by 0.19% and 0.16%, respectively. France's CAC 40 moved up 0.87%. Switzerland's SMI climbed 1.38%.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
