Brunswick Corp. (BC) reported a profit for its first quarter that Increases, from last year

The company's bottom line totaled $21.0 million, or $0.32 per share. This compares with $20.2 million, or $0.30 per share, last year.

Excluding items, Brunswick Corp. reported adjusted earnings of $82.6 million or $0.70 per share for the period.

The company's revenue for the period rose 12.9% to $1.378 billion from $1.221 billion last year.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
