Eli Lilly And Co. (LLY) announced a profit for its first quarter that Increases, from the same period last year

The company's earnings totaled $7.39 billion, or $8.26 per share. This compares with $2.75 billion, or $3.06 per share, last year.

Excluding items, Eli Lilly And Co. reported adjusted earnings of $7.66 billion or $8.55 per share for the period.

The company's revenue for the period rose 55.6% to $19.79 billion from $12.72 billion last year.
