Caterpillar Stock Gains 9% Over Strong Earnings, Revenue Growth In Q1

Shares of Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) are moving up about 9 percent on Thursday morning trading, after the company reported an increase in first-quarter earnings to $2.549 billion, or $5.47 per share, from last year's $2.003 billion, or $4.20 per share.

The company's shares are currently trading at $881.08 on the New York Stock Exchange, up 9.03 percent or $73.05. The stock opened at $856.63 and has climbed as high as $888.38 so far in today's session. Over the past year, it has traded in a range of $311.02 to $888.38.
