S-Oil Corporation (010950.KS), a petroleum and refinery company, reported a profit for the first compared with loss a year ago. Sales, however, edged down 0.5%.
Net income from continuing operation before income tax was 991.386 billion won compared with a loss before tax of 67.385 billion won in the same period last year.
Operating profit was 1.231 trillion won versus an operating loss of 21.541 billion won a year earlier.
Net income attributable to shareholders of the parent company was 720.991 billion won compared with a loss attributable to shareholders of 44.558 billion won in the prior-year quarter.
Sales declined to 8.943 trillion won from 8.991 trillion won a year earlier.
