FKA Twigs has been cast as Josephine Baker in an upcoming biopic about the famed dancer, singer, actress, and activist.
The film will be directed by French filmmaker Maïmouna Doucouré, according to Deadline. Originally announced in 2022, the project is reportedly set to begin filming this fall.
"Josephine Baker's extraordinary legacy is such an inspiration to me and to so many people around the world," Twigs said in a statement. "She lives on in our hearts as a visionary, ground-breaking woman whose story is as powerful as it is relevant today."
FKA Twigs recently appeared in supporting roles in films such as The Carpenter's Son and the rebooted version of The Crow.
In addition to writing and directing the film, Doucouré will also produce it under his Bien Ou Bien Prods. banner.
