Losing Streak May Continue For Hong Kong Shares

The Hong Kong stock market has moved lower in six straight sessions, slumping almost 1,550 points or 6.5 percent along the way. The Hang Seng Index now sits just above the 24,400-point plateau and it's looking at another soft start again on Thursday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is weak on further escalating tensions in the Middle East. The European and U.S. markets were down and the Asian bourses are expected to follow that lead.

The European Central Bank became the first major central bank to move in response to the rising inflationary pressures in the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East. In North America, the U.S. inflation and trade data as well as Canada’s central bank decision gained attention. The Chinese trade data was the main news in Asia.
