Singapore Bourse May Reclaim 5,000-Point Level

The Singapore stock market has finished higher in two of three trading days since the end of the three-day losing streak in which it had tanked almost 180 points or 3.5 percent. The Straits Times Index now sits just beneath the 4,990-point plateau and it's expected to open in the green on Friday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is upbeat after the United States said it would hold off on fresh attacks in Iran. The European and U.S. markets were up and the Asian bourses are expected to follow them to the upside.

A busy week for economic news flow saw a slew of reports being released that reflected the trends in the U.S. labor market. In Europe, economic growth and inflation data gained attention as the European Central Bank and Bank of England head for policy session later in the month. In Asia, the monetary policy session of the Indian central bank was in focus as the country, a major oil importer, reels under the pressures of a weaker rupee and rising inflation.
