Ovarian cancer is the second most common gynecologic cancer in the United States. However, its incidence has declined over the past several decades, likely due at least in part to more use of oral contraceptives and less use of menopausal hormone therapy, according to the American Cancer Society.
It is estimated that about 21,010 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer and about 12,450 women will die from ovarian cancer this year.
