Ligand Pharmaceuticals Stock Falls 7% Over Announcement Of $550 Mln Notes Offering

Stock of Ligand Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (LGND) is falling around 7 percent on Monday morning after the company announced its intention to offer $550.0 million of convertible senior notes due 2031 in a private placement.

Shares of the company slipped 6.84 percent to $256.10 on the Nasdaq, compared with the previous closing price of $274.88. The stock has traded in a 52-week range of $110.00 to $276.20.

Major central banks continued to dominate the economic news flow this week too, led by the Federal Reserve, as they announced their latest policy decisions. The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
