AN2 Therapeutics, Inc. (ANTX), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel small molecule therapies, on Monday announced the appointment of Cameron Trenor, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer, bringing more than 20 years of clinical and drug development experience.
Trenor most recently served as Chief Medical Officer of Cellarity, where he led the company's medical organization, first IND submission and global first-in-human study.
He previously held leadership roles at Forma Therapeutics and Novartis and remains a practicing pediatric hematologist-oncologist.
The appointment comes as AN2 advances its pipeline across hematologic diseases, infectious diseases and oncology.
The company is preparing to file an IND in the third quarter of 2026 for a Phase 2 global trial of oral epetraborole in polycythemia vera, with enrollment expected to begin in the fourth quarter.
Enrollment also continues in a Phase 2 trial of epetraborole for M. abscessus lung disease, with topline data anticipated in late 2027.
AN2 additionally plans to initiate a Phase 2 trial in Chagas disease by the end of 2026.
In oncology, AN2 has declared an ENPP1 candidate for solid tumors and expects to announce a second oncology candidate before year-end 2026.
In its most recent Q2 results, AN2 reported a net loss of $8.2 million, compared with $6.5 million a year earlier, as R&D expenses increased to $6.0 million from $3.2 million to support expanded clinical development.
Cash and equivalents stood at $79.9 million as of June 30, 2026, with the company expecting its cash position to support operations into 2029.
Currently, ANTX is trading at $5.74, down 1.20%.
