Electronic Data Systems Receives UK Approval For Amended Defence Information Infrastructure Contract

Tuesday, Electronic Data Systems Corp. (EDS) said that the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence or MoD has approved an amendment to the Defence Information Infrastructure (Future) or DII(F) contract, which enables EDS to increase its previously stated estimates for revenue from the contract to 2015 by US$489 million or 269 pounds Sterling.

The ATLAS Consortium is responsible for delivering the Defence Information Infrastructure (Future) project for the UK Ministry of Defence.

ATLAS is led by EDS, along with Fujitsu Services as a Tier 1 partner, General Dynamics, LogicaCMG and EADS Defence and Security Systems Ltd as Tier 2 partners, and IBM and HP as capability partners, amongst others.

ATLAS will deliver DII Increment 2b, which extends DII(F) into the deployed - military operations - environment. Increment 2b provides Defence Information Infrastructure services into the most unique and challenging of environments that of military operations.

The company noted that this is a further element of the 10-year contract awarded in March 2005, to modernize and create a single coherent MoD information infrastructure.

EDS is currently trading at $22.23, up 13 cents.
