The Falls Church, Virginia-based company, DynCorp International, Inc. (DCP), a provider of defense, technical and government outsourced solutions, together with McNeil Technologies had formed a partnership with Global Linguist Solutions LLC or GLS. DynCorp International is the majority partner and will consolidate GLS revenue on its books.On Friday, GLS has been once more awarded a five-year contract, with a maximum value of $4.60 billion, by the US Army for management of translation and interpretation services in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom or OIF.The contract was originally awarded to GLS in December 2006. But, the incumbent, objected to the contract and the General Accountability Office or GAO upheld the objection. The US Army accelerated a request for reconsideration with the GAO and the US Army INSCOM issued a modified request for proposal.As per the contract, GLS will provide foreign-language interpretation and translation services to the U.S. Army and other U.S. government agencies supporting OIF, which included embedded Iraqi translators who will operate with U.S. forces. GLS will hire up to 6,000 locally hired translators and up to 1,000 U.S. citizens with security clearances who are conversant with languages spoken in Iraq.DCP finished Friday's regular trading at $23.80, up $2.34 or 10.90%, on a volume of 613,189 shares on the NYSE.
