GM To Appoint Mary Barra As VP, Global Manufacturing Engineering - Quick Facts

General Motors Corp. (GM) announced that Mary Barra would be appointed as its vice president, global manufacturing engineering, effective February 1. GM noted that Mary would replace Jim Wiemels, who would retire April 1. The company said that Mary would report to Gary Cowger, GM group vice president, global manufacturing and labor relations.

Mary Barra is currently the executive director of vehicle manufacturing engineering. Prior to her current assignment, Barra was plant manager for the Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Center.
