Vietnam is keen to develop friendship and cooperation with African countries, including Morocco, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told the visiting Moroccan counterpart Abbas El Fasi in Hanoi Monday.
Fassi, in turn, affirmed that Morocco also regarded developing friendly and cooperative relations with Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam as important. The two leaders discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade, investment, cultural, and tourism sectors.
Earlier this year, the first meeting of the Vietnam-Morocco Joint committee was held and an agreement on double taxation avoidance was signed, which would provide a favorable legal framework for increased bilateral trade cooperation. The two countries also expressed hope that they would collaborate in international forums, actively contribute to joint efforts for peace, stability, and for equal international relations and benefits.
El Fassi and Tan Dung called on businesspersons from both the countries to bolster investments, information exchange, and partnerships.
The bilateral trade turnover between the two countries stood at $27 million for the first nine months of the year. However, both the sides felt that investment between the countries was still modest and there was tremendous scope for improvement in the exploitation of potential for investment and trade.
