DaVita Inc. (DVA) said it is working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General to respond to a subpoena request for documents related to Medicare claims for several drugs.
The subpoena was sent from the OIG's office in Atlanta, Georgia and is related to an ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia over the administration of iron and vitamin D drugs.
The subpoena applies to the Company and its subsidiaries and covers a time period from January 1, 2003 to the present.
In response to the subpoena, DaVita said it will produce a wide range of documents relating to the pharmaceutical products Zemplar, Hectorol, Venofer, Ferrlicit, and Epogen.
The company said no proceedings have been initiated against the company and it intends to cooperate with the government's investigation.
