Container Corp. Q4 Standalone Net Profit Drops

Container Corporation of India Ltd., or Concor, a logistics support provider working under the ministry of railways, government of India, announced financial results for the fourth-quarter, reporting a lower standalone net profit on decline in revenue. The company, however, reported a higher net profit for the fiscal year on an increase in revenue.

The New Delhi-based company posted fourth-quarter standalone net profit of Rs.187.66 crore or Rs.14.44 per share, down 8% from Rs.202.98 crore or Rs.15.62 per share in the fourth-quarter of 2008.

For the quarter, the company's quarterly net revenue fell 6% to Rs.841.22 crore from Rs.893.08 crore for the same period a year-ago, while other income was Rs.48.21 crore, compared with Rs.48.19 crore in the year-ago quarter.

During the quarter, revenue from Export-Import segment declined 10% to Rs.636.76 crore from Rs.704.25 crore in the prior year quarter, while revenue from Domestic segment grew 8% to Rs.204.46 crore from Rs.188.83 crore in the year-ago quarter.

For the fiscal year, Concor reported net profit of Rs.819.47 crore, compared with Rs.752.21 crore in 2008, representing a growth of 9%.

For the first twelve months, the net revenue was Rs.3,413.33 crore, up 2% from Rs.3,347.18 crore in the corresponding period a year-ago, while other income was Rs.192.05 crore, compared with Rs.163.15 crore for the comparable period last year.

At the BSE, Concor shares are currently trading at Rs.754.15, down by Rs.5.80 or 0.76% from the previous close.
