Skanska (SKSBF.PK) said it has been awarded contracts for the construction of six schools in Bristol, England. The contracts amount to a total of GBP 100 milion, or about SEK 1.2 billion.
The customer is the Bristol City Council through Bristol Local Education Partnership Limited.
Skanska UK will be responsible for design and construction of new school buildings, as well as renovation of existing buildings. The scope of work includes classrooms, science labs and sports halls.
The contract pertains to five schools in Bristol for about 6 thousand students from the age of 11 to 18, as well as a special needs school.
Work has commenced on all projects and completion of the schools will be carried out in a phased program, with the final school set for completion in 2011.
