Sainsbury PLC (SBRY.L) announced its Preliminary Results for the 52 weeks to 21 March 2009 posting profit of GBP 289 million or 16.4 pence per share, compared to GBP 329 million or 18.6 pence per share last year.
Underlying earnings per share were 21.8 pence, up from 19.1 pence in the prior year.
Profit before taxation was GBP 466 million, lower than GBP 479 milion a year earlier.
Revenue grew to GBP 18.91 billion from GBP 17.84 billion a year ago.
The Board is recommending a final dividend of 9.6 pence per share, making the full year dividend 13.2 pence, an increase of 10.0% over the previous year.
