1997 - Foo Fighters' ‘The Colour and the Shape’ Released

The Foo Fighters released their hit sophomore album, "The Colour And The Shape," on May 20, 1997.

The band, built around former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, released their self-titled debut in 1995, including the hit singles "This Is A Call" and "Big Me." "The Colour And The Shape" built on that momentum, with such songs as "Monkey Wrench," "Everlong" and "My Hero."

Produced by Gil Norton, the album was recorded largely at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, Washington. Unlike their debut, which saw Grohl play every instrument, except for one guitar part, "The Colour And The Shape" included contributions by Nate Mendel and Pat Smear, who also received co-writing credit on most of the songs.
