TLC star Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was born in Philadelphia on May 27, 1971. Lisa’s father was in the service and the family moved frequently, spending time in Kansas, Panama, New York City and Florida before settling with her mother Wanda and brother in Atlanta in the early 1990s. She formed the R&B trio Second Nature with Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins in Atlanta and the pair soon caught the attention of recording artist Pebbles, who introduced them to Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. Shortly after, the group changed their name to TLC. She died suddenly in a car accident in a Ceiba, Honduras on April 22, 2002. Watkins remembered her while speaking with Ebony, saying: “Lisa had one of the biggest hearts. She was the only person I knew who would take a person off the street and take care of them, give them the shirt off her back.”
