Black Eyed Peas Reach Number One With 'The E.N.D.' Three Years Ago

1960 - Connie Francis Hits #1 With 'Everybody Is Somebody's Fool'

Connie Francis hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Everybody's Somebody's Fool” on June 27, 1960. The track was released as a single with the B-side "Jealous of You (Tango della Gelosia).”

When Connie hit number one with the song, she claimed the top spot from "Cathy's Clown" by the Everly Brothers. Francis held on at the top spot for two weeks before "Alley Oop" by the Hollywood Angels hit number one.

If Francis had her way, the song would have had a much different sound than the finished product. She explained to Billboard:

“I called [songwriter Howard Greenfield] and asked him to write me a country song . . . I was looking specifically for a country song to put foreign lyrics to,” she said.
