Blur released their debut single “She’s So High” on October 15, 1990. The track was released initially as a double A-Side with the track “I Know” and was later included on their debut album “Leisure.” The track brought Blur their first U.K. chart spot within the top 50 and was heavily influenced by Pink Floyd. “Leisure” was released through Food Records, which was a subsidiary of Parlaphone Records and was founded by David Balfe. While speaking with MTV about the song’s video, drummer Dave Rowntree recalls Balfe’s first foray into the world of music video direction:“The head of our record company, David Balfe, wanted to try his hand at video directing. There were these neon rings suspended from the ceiling by three wires, each with someone holding a wire. He [Balfe] wanted these people to wobble the wires so that the neon rings would move. He kept shouting, 'I haven't seen the definitive wobble yet!'"
