Bob Dylan hit the top of the Billboard 200 chart with his thirty-third studio release “Together Through Life” on May 16, 2009. That release followed his collection “The Bootleg Series Vol. 8 – Tell Tale Signs: Rare and Unreleased 1989–2006” and featured the single “Beyond Here Lies Nothin.’”

When the release hit number one, it claimed the top spot from “Deeper Than Rap” by Rick Ross. Dylan stayed at number one until Chrisette Michele moved into the top spot with her hit release “Epiphany.”

Much of the album was written in collaboration with longtime Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. Dylan spoke on their connection with Rolling Stone, saying:

“Hunter is an old buddy, we could probably write a hundred songs together if we thought it was important or the right reasons were there... He's got a way with words and I do too. We both write a different type of song than what passes today for songwriting,” Dylan explained.
