No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani was born in Anaheim, California on October 3, 1969. Gwen was born to Dennis and Patti Stefani, and her father worked as an executive at Yamaha during Gwen’s youth. Her mother was an accountant before leaving her work to become a homemaker. Gwen gained her first experience in the music business playing alongside her older brother Eric. He invited her to sing lead when forming No Doubt in 1986, but he left the band in 1991, the same year the band signed to Interscope. The band broke through to international success in 1995 with the release of their third album, “Tragic Kingdom.” The album’s success was driven largely by the hit single “Just A Girl,” which Gwen later revealed was inspired by her father:“I wrote that because my dad got mad at me for going to Tony [Kanal, No Doubt bassist]'s house and driving home late at night. I mean, c'mon, I'm, like, going on 30 here!” she told BAM magazine in 2008.
