Bruce Springsteen's debut album, "Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.," was released on January 5, 1973.

The record was largely ignored when it was released. The 23-year-old Springsteen, who had been playing in bands since the late 1960s, decided to make the record as cheaply as possible.

"Asbury Park" did contain the single "Blinded by the Light," which became famous due to a chart-topping cover from Manfred Mann's Earth Band. The LP also included the songs "Spirit in the Night" and "It's Hard to Be a Saint in the City."

Springsteen would put out "The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle" later that year. He would break through to mainstream success with "Born To Run" LP in 1975.
