1999 - Foo Fighters Release 'Learn To Fly' As Single

The Foo Fighters released their smash hit single “Learn to Fly” to radio on September 18, 1999. The track was released as part of their third album “There Is Nothing Left to Lose” and followed their 1998 single "Walking After You.”

The track hit the top of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart on November 6, 1999, bumping "The Chemicals Between Us" by Bush from the top spot. The British alt-rockers would eventually claim the top spot back.

Dave Grohl spoke on the track, saying:

"It's about the search for some sort of inspiration, the search for signs of life that will make you feel alive. It's actually one of my least favorite songs on the record,” he said according to songfacts.com.
