Radiator Springs Racers, the slot car type dark ride attraction at Disney California Adventure, ranks among the most expensive theme park attractions globally. The ride, planned in 2007, in a move to renovate and expand Disney California Adventure, was designed and implemented a few years later. The ride, conceptualized from Disney Park's 2006 film "Cars" and its 2011 sequel, cost over $200 million, was opened to the public from mid-June 2012, and swiftly became the star attraction at Disney California Adventure, which was till then struggling to attract guests as they felt the rides were not Disney material.Radiator Springs Racers has two racing tracks side by side. The attraction takes you through a dark ride section, interacting with the residents of the fictional Radiator Springs, before blasting you out in a racing finale around Ornament Valley.
