COVAXIN, a vaccine candidate for COVID-19, is being developed by India’s Bharat Biotech.Current status: The vaccine is under phase I/II human clinical trials in India.Mode of Action: COVAXIN is an inactivated vaccine containing dead novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Since it is a dead virus, it doesn’t infect or replicate. When healthy individuals are vaccinated with COVAXIN, it triggers the production of antibodies, thus building up their immunity.
