The FDA decision on Heron Therapeutics Inc.’s (HRTX) HTX-019, proposed for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting in adults is due on September 17.HTX-019 is an IV injectable emulsion formulation designed to directly deliver Aprepitant, the active ingredient in FDA-approved Merck’s antiemetic Emend.It is estimated that there are approximately 65 million diagnostic and surgical procedures at risk of resulting in postoperative nausea and vomiting in the U.S. each year. Although a number of approved drugs are available for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting, there still remains an important unmet need for effective and convenient products.HRTX closed Friday’s trading at $4.34, down 10.70%.
