Madrigal Pharmaceuticals Inc.’s (MDGL) investigational oral drug Resmetirom, proposed for the treatment of adult patients with Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis with liver fibrosis, is under priority review by the FDA, with a decision expected on March 14, 2024. Resmetirom is a thyroid hormone receptor beta (THR-ß) agonist that specifically targets the root causes of Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), a disease with significant unmet need, and no approved therapies.In clinical trials, Resmetirom is the first therapy to achieve NASH resolution and fibrosis improvement primary endpoints.If approved, Resmetirom has the potential to achieve blockbuster sales at its peak, according to analysts.MDGL closed Tuesday's (Feb.27, 2024) trading at $239.80, up 3.11%.
