Hole bassist Kristen Pfaff was found dead in her apartment in Seattle, Washington, on June 16, 1994. Pfaff had become deeply entrenched in the Seattle’s drug culture in the 1990s and her cause of death was listed as "acute opiate intoxication.” Pfaff had moved to Seattle after a stint in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she played regularly with local favorites Janitor Joe. After moving to Seattle, she joined Hole and began a tenuous relationship with frontwoman Courtney Love. She was also close friends with Courtney’s husband, Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain. "She’s a f**king talented musician, she’s also a beautiful soul. I think she’s so beautiful, but if I ever told her that, and Courtney found out, it would be hell,” Cobain’s former roommate Dylan Carlson remembers him saying in the book “Who Killed Kurt Cobain?”
